Firm Overview
Todd J. Zimmer has almost two decades of legal experience. Throughout his career, he accomplished many feats, surpassed many of his personal goals and mastered countless skills. Despite such a long career in the legal field, he has never lost sight that helping people out of difficult and challenging circumstances and on the road to a happier future is his utmost reward.

Expertise. Mr. Zimmer is a dedicated and results-driven attorney with a highly impressive background in law. He possesses excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. This is evidenced by his role as a Certified Mediator to families in need. He is a long standing member of the Touro Mentoring Program, and has served on the Board of Suffolk County Coalition Against Violence. In 1997, his efforts were recognized when he received the “Man of the Year” Award by the Suffolk County Coalition Against Violence. He currently serves as a Suffolk County Assessment Review Hearing Examiner.

He has displayed an ability to influence decisions and to develop positive relationships both within his practice and as a member of his community. He serves on the board of the Long Island Business Institute, and is a member in good standing of the Matrimonial Bar Association of Suffolk County, Suffolk County Bar Association, and the Family Law Committee of Suffolk County.

Honors and Awards. An enthusiastic and skilled attorney, during his years in the legal profession, he has demonstrated a high level of ability to perform effectively in his field. He has been admitted to argue cased before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal Court of Appeals, and the Court of the Armed Services. In addition, his wide-ranging abilities have been recognized with citations from both Suffolk County Executive Robert Gaffney and from the Islip Town Board. He has also received a “Special Recognition Award” from the Long Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

A highly competent legal strategist capable of developing innovative activities designed to facilitate his competitive superiority. His abilities in the field of law were recently recognized by his former clients by being voted Long Island’s #1 Divorce Lawyer (2009). He has again been nominated by his appreciative clients for this prestigious and highly sought after award in 2010.

Community Involvement. Not satisfied with just being a dynamic and results-driven attorney, he is committed to giving back to his community. A longtime outspoken advocate for children, he currently volunteers and supports Toys of Hope, a local charity. He freely donates his time and money to this worthwhile charity that brightens the lives of thousands of children each year. He especially enjoys participating at their Annual Holiday Gift Giving event, held at Oheka Castle, where he helps to deliver holiday presents to children living in homeless shelters.

Mr. Zimmer gives freely of his time by speaking at various community groups and is actively involved in outreaching to abused women. Ever grateful for the extensive legal education he received as a Dean’s List student at Touro Law School, he serves as a Legal Mentor in their Mentoring Program.

Management Skills. Mr. Zimmer enjoys being part of, as well as managing, motivating and training, a highly successful and skilled team, and thrives in this highly pressurized and challenging legal environment. His office consists of a full time Associate, three “Of Counsel” attorneys, a Community Relations Coordinator, and the support of three highly dedicated legal assistants and interns. Personal Details. On a personal level, he is a lifelong resident of the East Northport/Commack community. As a family man, he is devoted to his wife and three children. He enjoys a multitude of interests and hobbies, and is a dedicated science-fiction aficionado.
